Lujan Grisham Votes for House Spending Bill

Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 933, the Department of Defense, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013.
“I reluctantly voted for this bill despite its many shortcomings. As my district continues to experience negative job growth, this bill will provide some stability to our local economy and support to our men and women in the Armed Forces – including at Kirtland Air Force Base, a major employer in New Mexico. This bill also contains provisions that continue to support the mission of Sandia National Labs.
“I’m disappointed, instead of voting for a motion that would have allowed consideration to replace the sequester with a balanced plan of spending cuts and closing tax loopholes, House Republicans once again prefer a meat-ax approach to governing. I will urge my colleagues in the Senate to improve this bill and restore funding to critical programs that support middle class families and small business.”
