Lujan Grisham Statement on White House Fiscal Year 2019 Budget

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement in response to President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2019 budget.

"After ramming through a tax package that mostly benefits wealthy Americans and blows up the federal debt, the Trump Administration is using those massive deficits as an excuse to cut programs that seniors, students, small businesses, veterans, and middle-class families rely on.  This budget truly is a slap in the face to hard-working Americans.

"It undermines the economic stability of millions of Americans by cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and makes massive cuts to other health, education, nutrition, research, transportation, and economic growth programs.  Dozens of job-creating investments are jeopardized—from investments in renewable energy technologies that will be so important to New Mexico’s economic future to direct assistance for job-creating small businesses.  These types of investments are the backbone of our economy and critical to workers and families in New Mexico and across the country.”
