Lujan Grisham Statement on Senate Background Check Vote

Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement after the U.S. Senate failed to pass a bi-partisan amendment for background checks on gun purchases.

“I am shocked that the Senate rejected a bipartisan proposal to expand background checks on gun sales today, a position that is supported by more than 90% of Americans. I appreciate Sens. Manchin and Toomey for their efforts to reach across the aisle and come to a compromise. Americans should not have to wait any longer to ensure the safety of our children and families.”
