Lujan Grisham Calls for End to Political Investigations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, released the following statement today about Republican-led investigations by the committee:

“Our committee should be holding government accountable, and not contributing to the public’s distrust of its elected leaders,” Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham said. “Yet, the Republican leadership admits it created taxpayer-funded investigations for purely partisan reasons. They now admit the investigations are not intended to expose illegal activity. I join my colleagues in calling for a return to our intended oversight mission.”

During an appearance on CNN’s Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform who is currently leading the investigation of Planned Parenthood, admitted that he has identified no evidence that Planned Parenthood has violated any laws. 

Earlier this week, a senior House Republican admitted the investigation into Benghazi was politically motivated.
