Lujan Grisham Announces Winner of 2016 Congressional Art Competition
ALBUQUERQUE – Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham today announced the winners of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.
Gavin MOsher, of Bosque Prep, took the top prize for a piece titled: “Isolation.” Mosher’s art will hang for the next year in Congress along with artwork from other Congressional districts throughout the nation. Mosher will travel to Washington, D.C. and attend a national ceremony.
The 2nd place winner was Merritt Barwell, of Albuquerque Academy. The piece, titled “No eyes” will be displayed in Rep. Lujan Grisham’s office in Washington.
The 3rd place winner was Jenny Le, of Volcano Vista. Her piece will be displayed in Rep. Lujan Grisham’s Albuquerque district office.
“I am proud of all of the talented students who displayed their talents and gave us a unique perspective into the communities they represent,” Rep. Lujan Grisham said. “I foresee a promising future for these New Mexico students. I appreciate their willingness to share their talents with us.”
Rep. Lujan Grisham hosted a ceremony to honor the student-artists today at Warehouse 508, Albuquerque’s youth art and entertainment center.
