Congressional Delegation to Host Military Service Academies Nights

Staff for members of the New Mexico Congressional Delegation will hold information sessions for high school students interested in applying to the U.S. military service academies. U.S. Sen. Tom Udall began holding Service Academies Nights in 2012 to give prospective applicants and their families the opportunity to speak to representatives from each military service academy and in-state ROTC programs.

Udall's Office will be joined this year by staff members for Sen. Martin Heinrich and U.S. Reps. Steve Pearce, Ben Ray Luján and Michele Lujan Grisham to answer questions about their respective nomination processes.

Four of the five service academies – the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy – require a Congressional, Vice-Presidential or service-connected nomination. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination.

Each academy is among the most competitive in the nation and prides itself on producing our nation’s next generation of military leaders.

All interested high school students and their families are encouraged to attend the Service Academies Nights to gather information about the nomination process and about each service academy.
